Board of Adjustment
This is a volunteer position that functions under the Zoning Administrator for Tama County
Functions of the Board of Adjustments are to: hearing appeals of decisions made by the zoning administrator, granting or denying special exceptions (also referred to as "speacial uses" or "conditional uses")., and granting or denying variances.
The Board of Adjustment is primarily the judicial part of the zoning process. They are comprised of 5 members appointed by the Board of Supervisors and are the body that translates the language of the ordinance into actual uses.
