Property Tax Notice: Tax payments for parcels that are delinquent after May 19, 2023 will need to be paid with guaranteed funds only. We will not accept personal checks for these payments. Accepted forms of payment that would meet the guaranteed funds requirement include cash, debit or credit card, money order or a cashier’s check. For questions call 641-484-3141 or stop in to the treasurer’s office during business hours.

Motor Vehicle Department
Motor Vehicle employees process transactions for titling and licensing of all motor vehicles designed for road use. Note: Off-road vehicles (boats, snowmobiles, and ATVs) are processed in the Recorder's office.

Vehicle registrations may be renewed the month before, the month of, and the month following the designated due month, which is usually your birth month. A penalty of 5% of the license fee, rounded to the nearest dollar, with a $5.00 minimum will be added on the first of each month when delinquent. A title fee is $25.00. A lien notation is $10.00.

Property Tax Department
Tax Department employees collect special assessments, drainage, mobile home, and property taxes; invest county funds; apportion tax dollars and send to the appropriate school, city, or other taxing body; maintain bookkeeping and hold an annual tax sale.

Taxes are due in September and March and become delinquent on October 1st and April 1st. Tax statements are mailed once a year in August. The tax year begins on July 1st and ends June 30th. The delinquent penalty is 1½ % per month, rounded to the nearest dollar. A $4.00 cost per parcel will also be added May 1st to delinquent taxes. Annual tax sales are held on the third Monday in June.

Drivers License
Drivers License employees issue identification cards and driver’s licenses. All transactions require an appointment. Driving tests are scheduled by appointment. Driver’s license may be renewed 30 days before and up to 60 days after your birthday.
