On-Call Public Safety Telecommunicator
Tama County, IA 911 Communications is seeking dedicated, detail-oriented individuals to join
our team as On-Call Public Safety Telecommunicators! This critical role serves as the lifeline
between the public and emergency responders, helping to safeguard the community by
receiving and dispatching calls for law enforcement, fire, EMS, and other public safety services.
This position is on-call only, which means there are no scheduled hours. Successful applicants
will be able to view open shifts and pick up hours based on schedule needs. The successful
applicant will be trained on-the-job and will be able to demonstrate competency to be able to
operate independently as a member of the Communications Center.
Effective July 1, 2025, on-call dispatchers will be required to schedule a minimum of one shift
(equal to a minimum of 4 hours) per month to remain in good standing and remain on the
Communications roster.
