R.O.W. Maintenance Worker II

Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Assistant Foreman the Right-of-Way Maintenance Worker II performs duties in the field relating to Tama County’s roadside Vegetation Management Program. In this position the Right-of-Way Maintenance Worker II supports the mechanical and chemical control of vegetation, contributes to public safety through line of sight clearing, site restoration, and assists in erosion control. Responsible for hands-on field work including spraying, hydroseeding, mowing, burning, and related record keeping. This will also include snow removal, minor bridge maintenance, and other duties as assigned. Refer to the full job description for a complete list of job duties. Employee must perform required duties in a satisfactory manner without continuous supervision. Position is intended to report to the County Maintenance Shed B located in Toledo.


Requirements: Graduation from high school, or GED. Possess and maintain a valid State of Iowa Class A (Commercial Driver’s License) with no air brake, manual transmission, or tractor-trailer restrictions. Must possess a valid Commercial Pesticide Applicator License (Right-of-Way) or obtain one at first opportunity. Pre-employment and random drug screening are required.


Starting wage is $28.38 per hour with full benefit package. With the exception of poor road conditions, employees can generally expect to work from 7 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
